Varied designs under one roof

Dazzling: Customers choose their favourite items.

One can easily get lost in the different stalls selling uncut diamonds, gold, silver and stones like emeralds, rubies, topaz, sapphire and many others. The place was filled with a lot of excited women from every part of the City, who were there to check out the best deals for occasions varying from parties to weddings. With the wedding season hitting the market soon, bridal jewellery was no doubt the most sought after for both the older generation as well as the brides-to-be.

The stalls were from different parts of the country and saw designs from Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai and  Bangalore. “The exhibition this year is really big and the designs available are unique. I was here last year also and am looking for some beaded jewellery this time around,” said Shruti Priya, a visitor at the event.

Beaded jewellery and stones were quite a crowd puller and saw the maximum number of customers. Another attraction was colour diamonds which were available in fancy designs. “Colour diamonds are quite popular in the West but the trend is just catching up in India. We are the one of the few people who sell these diamonds in India and the jewellery is mostly party wear,” says Sunil Jain, a sales executive from YS18.

Designer jewellery saw a lot of takers at the event with many looking to even interact with the designer to get more specific details. “One of the stalls have their jewellery designer present which is a big bonus as she can give me a few ideas about the kind of jewellery pieces I want to buy,” said Swati Gupta, who was shopping for her wedding jewellery.

There was something for people who like antique designs when it comes to their jewellery. “We do a lot of ‘Gharana’ jewellery especially for brides and also uncut diamond jewellery,” says Seema Ranidar from Paniwala Jewellery, Jaipur.

And while not everyone actually goes by the saying ‘old is gold’, there were stalls which provided new gold jewellery styled in dull gold to give them an antique look. An interesting stall was the ‘Colombian & Zambian Emeralds’, where a variety of gems were showased. “We usually supply the stones to the stores in the City but have participated in this exhibition to interact with the customers and tell them more about the stones,” said Prateek Jain, from V Rajendra Exports. All in all, the event turned out to be a grand success.
