According to CAT 2010 convener Himanshu Rai, the IIMs may adopt a linear model in which students can take the test all through the year.

"We are considering holding the test throughout the year on the lines of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). In future, registration for CAT as well as sale of vouchers may also go online making it friendlier and more responsive," Rai told Deccan Herald.

Apart from MeritTrac and Everonn, delivery partners for CAT 2010, Prometric, which is conducting the online test, may also set up its own centres in the years to come.

Legal action warned

Assuring students that the test will "continue to be fair and well-organised" in the coming days, the CAT convener said stringent legal action would be initiated against individuals or organisations violating the non-disclosure agreement.

"This time, several online forums have contacted us about the issue. Many forums have already warned the users against posting information on CAT question paper on their respective portals," Rai revealed.

This explains why many CAT discussion portals chose to refrain from divulging information on the question paper on Day Two as well.

Error free unlikely

An error-free CAT, however, is unlikely to affect the criteria for admission to the IIMs.
"IIMs need students from diverse backgrounds as the learning method is based on discussion and interaction instead of monologue lectures," he added.
