'No dearth of funds for developmental works'

Good news for Mandya: Super speciality hospital soon

Speaking after releasing a handbook at the distribution of sarees to beneficiaries of Bhagyalakshmi scheme here on Monday, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa the decision regarding the super speciality hospital would be taken in the next Cabinet meeting.

 Sufficient funds would be provided for the hospital in the State Bubdet 2011-12. At present, poor patients of the district would go to Mysore and Bangalore to avail good treatment.

The setting up of the super speciality hospital would address that problem, he added.
The CM also promised to release ` 10 crore each for improvement of Srirangapatna - Krishnarajasagar road and also for Maddur taluk to ease drinking water supply.

Besides, Rs one crore each would be released for the development of tourist places like Kokkare Bellur, Karighatta and Melukote. “There is no dearth of funds for development works.

 The Opposition parties are not tolerating development across the State and have indulged in making baseless allegations against the government”.

Yeddyurppa inaugurated 21 important development works to be taken up at a cost ` 1,205 lakhs in various taluks.

Home and and District -In-charge  R Ashok, MLA Ashwathnarayagowda, former minister Ramachandragowda, MLC Go Madhusudan and others were present.

Sarees distributed

A suitable legislation will be enacted to strengthen the Bhagyalakshmi scheme in the State, said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. Health camps for the mothers under the scheme will be held every year and free education will be provided to the girl children up to degree level.

Speaking after distributing sarees and bagina to the beneficiaries of Bhagyalakshmi and also health camp here on Monday, he opined that passing legislation would ensure continuity of the scheme even if any party comes to power in the State.

Taking to task the Opposition parties for their attempts to topple his government, the CM said he would not respond to the criticisms of anybody about this project. In fact this scheme has been appreciated by other States and they too are planning to implement the same there. As per the scheme, the girl children get  ` one lakh after attaining 18 years, free education up to degree level and mega health camp for the mothers once in a year.

The statistics released by the Centre revealed that Karnataka stands second as far as development is concerned. However, the Opposition parties are at all bothered about development and only interested in destabilising the BJP Government.

Yeddyurappa ruled out plundering of natural resources and said that the State’s demand for the iron ore has been met and export of the iron ore is totally banned. All the parties have people who were involved in illegal mining. They are spending money to disturb the social harmony. In democracy, people are supreme and they will decide the party of their choice.

On the current political situation, the CM said this kind of situation would not have arose had BJP got 120 seats.
