Resolution passed for folklore university

A decision in this connection has been taken at the general body meeting held in Chamarajanagar on Tuesday.

Cutting across political lines, all Zilla Panchayat members urged the government to set up the same in the border district like Chamarajanagar to boost educational activities in the region. As soon as the meeting began, ZP member Somanayaka urged the State government to establish the same as district is rich in culture, tradition and folklore literature. The cultural heroes of the region Malemahadeshwara and Manteswamy have contributed a lot for folklore literature. Besides, the presence of tribal communities and their folklore also added myriad colours to the already colourful folklore.

Adding to this, another member C A Mahadevashetty opined that there is no dearth of government land in the district in case the government sanctions folklore varsity. 

The district administration has already acquired 600 acres of land near Yedipura and 1300 acres of land in survey number of 117 and 118 at Kellamballi.

Another member Kuntur Shivakumar told that there is also sufficient government land at Kurubanakatte in Kollegal taluk for this purpose.

Presiding over the meeting,President B M Muniraju announced that the resolution copy to the minister and officials concerned to set up folklore university in Chamarajanagar.
