Burglars raid two temples; decamp with booty from one

Police promise early tracing out of miscreants

An attempt for robbery was made at the Ganapathy temple at B G S Circle in T B Layout in Nagamangala town.

The miscreants allegedly broke open the lock and had removed the silver crown of the deity and the money in the offering box, but had left it in the temple premises and escaped. It came to notice when the priests came to the temple on Tuesday morning and informed the police.

Town police arrived at the spot and found the lost items at the temple premises and have registered a case.

Theft

In an another incident, the thieves have broke open the lock in a similar manner at the Pattaladamma temple, at Hoovinahalli village in Bindiganavile hobli in the taluk and have escaped with the gold and silver valuable worth lakhs of rupees kept in a box.

The total worth of valuables and cash is estimated to be more than ` 2 lakh. It is suspected that both the incidents might have occurred on Monday night. Rural police visited the spot and interrogation is on.

Mandya Dy SP Channabasavanna visited both the spots and directed to take suitable action. Fingerprint and forensic experts were pressed into service.
