5 chains snatched in 30 minutes

The incidents took place between 8.30 am and 9 am. Police have arrested Shamsudin with the help of Basavanagudi residents, in connection with chain snatching.

However, DCP South Sonia Narang said there was no real lead to assume that it was a planned effort by one gang.

While one 40 gram chain and two chains valued at 60,000 were snatched in Narang’ jurisdiction, another chain weighing 80-85 gram was stolen in Madiwala.

Security men held

Three people from a security agency including its managing director have been arrested for indulging in chain snatching.

The Kadugodi police received the information about a week ago that three people from Reva Security Agency have been indulging in chain snatching.

They caught them red-handed in Sadaramangala. The arrested are Managing Director of the company Rajanna, field officer Ambreesh and security guard Aruna.

The police have also recovered 28 chains valued at 19 lakh from them. Initial interrogation has revealed that they have been indulging in chain snatching for the last two-three years.

The accused would use the information collected as part of the job to commit the crime. The arrest of the three has left the other 56 employees in the security agency in dark.
