Advani, who will be competing in billiards as well as snooker here, said it was the format of the competition that made him nervous.

“I am nervous,” said Advani. “Each one of these games is going to be a tight affair. The best of five, 100-up format gives no second chance. Short effective bursts and absolute focus are important. It calls for greater mental strength. A couple of mistakes and you are gone," added the Indian on the eve of the event.

Advani said though experience could have a say, it was possible that a new champion could emerge.

“Normally you would expect the top seed to win. But not here. A new champion can emerge. Of course experience helps a lot. I am into my third Asian Games and I know the pressure of playing in such Games. I am sure it will hold us in good stead. But having said that, there is no room for complacency. It is a T10 match out there.” The Bangalorean felt anyone who reached the quarterfinals could win the gold medal. “Peter Gilchrist (Singapore), the Thais and cueists from Myanmar are all capable.”
