Home Minister has big plans for Police Academy

KPA: Ashoka lays foundation to administrative block

Talking to reporters, after laying foundation stone for the  administrative block of the Academy, he said the Home department had chalked out several programmes to make the academy the best. It would be a place of inspiration for the trainees. Advanced training infrastructure was being added to the existing infrastructre of library, swimming pool, forensic science laboratory, computer lab and hostel facilities. These facilities include a basket ball court which will come up at a cost of ` 23 lakh, housing and seminar hall built at a cost of        ` 65 lakh.

Ashoka said the Government has sanctioned `3 crore for the purchase of modern training equipments. About `1 crore would be spent on weapons. The Minister said the work on the new administrative block would be completed in about 14 months. The Academy would also have a community hall soon, Ashok disclosed.

The Government had released  `2 crore for repair works and renovation of existing KPA building. All these would add modern facilities to the police academy, making it the best, even as it enjoys the credit of imparting specialised training to police officers from far flung places like Pondicherry, Maldives, Bhutan and others.  

Ashoka inaugurated the 35th batch of basic training course for probationary PSIs. He also opened a model police station, renovated forensic science lab and crime scene simulation centre on the occasion.

DG & IG of Police Ajai Kumar Singh,  DGP (Training) S T Ramesh, KPA Director Amar Kumar Pandey, IGP (Southern Range) A S N Murthy, Deputy Director of KPA K T Balakrishna and others were present in the programme.
