Ghulam Ali looking forward to singing with Lata

"I will be thankful to Allah, if such an opportunity comes," Ali said when reporters asked him whether he would like to sing with Lata. He recalled that he had got an opportunity to sing with Lata once or twice but the recording did not happen.

The legendary singer, who was here for a programme said that Lata has an unique singing style. He also praised celebrated playback singer Asha Bhosle.

Ali also said that though he did sing film songs, he was not a film singer per se but a Ghazal singer. "I am dependent on Ghazal singing which is not dependent on films," he said.
Lamenting on the plight of Urdu, he said that drastic steps were needed to restore the language's richness.Asked about the differences between India and Pakistan over different issues, Ali observed that all these things were created by 'big forces'. We should not follow them, he said
