'Sopana Award' distributed

Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav distributed awards to meritorious children and later children from various schools presented cultural programmes.

Addressing children, Yadav said that Scouts activities necessary to restore the eroding social values in society. “Almost all the States in the nation give emphasis for the Scout activities. It is praiseworthy that the Dakshina Kannada is far ahead of other district in Scout activities,” he added.

Students can serve the society and develop themselves by participating in the scout activities, he said adding, “the nation can be built only if people are ready to change themselves.”

BSG District Secretary Vasanth Rao said that Dakshina Kannada has been bagging the first place in the State for the last 18 years in the Scout activities. The efforts of Scouters and Guiders in the district is commendable, he added.

Awards

A total of 174 cubs from 26 schools, 223 bul-buls from 30 schols, 142 scouts from 25 schools and 250 guides from 36 schools received awards from the Deputy Commissioner.
