College directed to return marks cards

Last Updated 21 November 2010, 17:58 IST

Suhas was admitted to the Hosmat Hospital Educational Institute for BSc Physiotherapy for the year 2002-2003. At the time of admission he had submitted the original copies of his SSLC and PUC mark cards to the college. However, he was unable to continue the study and sought return of the testimonials. The institute asked him to pay up Rs 11,000 to get the marks cards.

The Forum found that the college failed to prove that it was entitled to said sum of money from the student and accordingly passed the orders.

Deficient service

The Forum has pulled up the Vacation Credit Card firm for deficient service and has ordered it to refund Rs 15,250 to P Pramod and Jaya Pramod. Both had paid the money to the firm which promised five days of free accommodation at any destination in India.

The Pramods chose Ooty but the trip was cancelled since Vacation Credit Card could not arrange it. They made a second attempt but the  firm ignored all requests to inform them whether the journey was fixed or not. The trip however was confirmed belatedly through an email. It was too late to make arrangements at such short notice. Disappointed, they complained to this Forum. The firm did not appear before the court.

Poor service

The Forum has ordered French Express Network Pvt. Ltd to pay Rs 2,000 to a customer for not providing proper service. It was alleged that the firm was rude to Vani, the complainant, when she enquired about her parcel.

The consumer forum has directed Accident Relief Care (India)Pvt Ltd. to pay up Rs 96,534 to C Venkataswamy due under an insurance policy. He had lodged the claim after he sustained injuries in an accident and his claim was repudiated.
