“I am appealing to them (Opposition), even at the last moment, to return to the floor of the  House and allow a healthy debate on the whole issue. Let them speak out on what they want to on the floor of the House, and the government will also come out (with its views),” Mukherjee told newspersons here.

Mukherjee, however, declined to budge from the avowed government stand on framing a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the 2G spectrum scam.

Parliament proceedings in both Houses have been disrupted for a record 15 days at a stretch in the wake of the Opposition’s insistence on forming a JPC to go into the telecom scam.

Contending that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament is the right body to go into the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report on the scam, Mukherjee wondered why “ two JPCs are  required to look into the identical matter”.
