If anyone had thought that surrendering themselves to a guru or God is indeed ‘Art of living’, they are highly mistaken. ‘Art of living’ is what police teach you to join hands in curbing crime. And, this is not any filmy dialogue. But a real life dialogue from ‘reel hero’ Vijay’ aka ‘Duniya’ Vijay.

In a rather fruity speech aimed at making public cop-friendly, Vijay in a sarcastic tone said; people tend to stay glued to TV, even as perpetrators continue to purloin. Referring to the thin audience at the launch of ‘Crime Prevention Week’ organised by the city police at Town Hall here on Tuesday, Vijay said it’s an indication of people’s aversion to such educative programmes.

“The sentinels of society giving tips free of cost on how to safeguard yourself, and also keep crime at bay is ‘Art of living’. But, people tend to pay exorbitant money to listen to someone preach something beyond daily life,” said Vijay.

Going down memory lane, Vijay said how nervous he was when his father had almost taken him to a police station when he had stayed away from attending his school. “My father had warned me of getting ‘nice’ treatment at the hands of police and I was afraid of khaki”, recalled Vijay who had donned the role of a top cop in one of his recent releases.Mayor Sandesh Swamy stepped into the shoes of police giving a clarion call to the public to do their bit instead of depending upon cops and authorities during adverse situations.

He urged the police to make city free from crime. Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal said one could minimise crime by adopting preventive measures as it was impossible to bring it (crime) to zero. Of late the department has undergone drastic changes, presenting policing in a totally different way than their initial days during british rule.

Before summing up the police commissioner said ‘one cannot think of development in the society without orderliness’.

Cops and public under the banner of N R Police sub-division staged short skits on different modus operandis, besides Post-graduation  students of MSW, University of Mysore.

IGP (Southern range) A S N Murthy, SPs Manish Karbikar (Mysore), Koushalendra Singh (Mandya) and K V Sharath Chandra (Hassan), DCPs Basavaraj Malagathi, P Rajendra Prasad and M N Prabha Shankar and others were present.
