State seeks 1,045 crore from Centre for relief work

According to a letter written to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, copies of which were released to the media, the estimated loss caused due to heavy rain and flood during the current year is Rs 1,782 crore.

Yeddyurappa stated that the relief claimed as per CRF/NCCF guidelines is Rs 1,045 crore. An expenditure of Rs 133 crore has been incurred by the State government for rescue and relief measures of immediate nature.

“It is becoming extremely difficult for the State government to cope with the situation financially without the assistance from the Central government. Hence I would request you to release Rs 1,045 crore at the earliest”, Yeddyurappa stated in the letter.

In another letter to Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja, the Chief Minister has urged the Centre to include 15 cities in the State - Bidar, Bijapur, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Gadag, Hassan, Kolar, Mandya, Raichur, KGF, Robertsonpet, Udupi, Yadgir, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara and Gokak under the Rajiv Awas Yojana.
