Dandupalya gangsters appeal death sentence

A special court on October 1, 2010 had sentenced 11 members of the gang, who were involved in 14 different cases, to death for committing heinous crimes such as dacoity, rape and murder. The gang had terrorised the City in the late 90s.

The 34th City-Civil and Sessions Judge H R Srinivas had awarded death sentence to Dandupalya Krishna alias Krishna, Hanuma alias Dodda Hanuma, Munikrishna, son of Muniyappa, Venkataramana, Timma alias Koti Timma, Venkatesha alias Chandra, Munikrishna alias Krishna, Nalla Timma alias Timma, Chikkamuniyappa alias Muniyappa, and Lakshmi, wife of Dodda Hanuma.

While awarding capital punishment to the accused, the court had observed that the accused had committed brutal murders which fall under the category of rarest of rare cases.
