Former MP hurt in accident

The accident occurred while Shivappa and his wife Savithramma were heading to their house in Sagar.

Shivappa, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a tree  near Choradi. He sustained grievous head injuries and lost consciousness due to profuse bleeding. His wife sustained fracture of both hands.

The couple were shifted to a private hospital and Shivappa has been kept in ICU. Doctors said he will be shifted to Bangalore for further treatment.

The couple is said to be out of danger. Former minister Kumar Bangarappa and others visited the hospital.

K G Shivappa was elected to Lok Sabha from Shimoga constituency in 1992 and he had joined BJP recently.
