<p>The accident occurred while Shivappa and his wife Savithramma were heading to their house in Sagar. <br /><br />Shivappa, who was driving the car, lost control over the vehicle and rammed into a tree near Choradi. He sustained grievous head injuries and lost consciousness due to profuse bleeding. His wife sustained fracture of both hands.<br /><br />The couple were shifted to a private hospital and Shivappa has been kept in ICU. Doctors said he will be shifted to Bangalore for further treatment. <br /><br />The couple is said to be out of danger. Former minister Kumar Bangarappa and others visited the hospital. <br /><br />K G Shivappa was elected to Lok Sabha from Shimoga constituency in 1992 and he had joined BJP recently.<br /></p>
