Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta on Thursday asked additional deputy commissioner Dr C J Betsurmutt, to take strong action against officials who do not practice due diligence in addressing the people’s problems.

Speaking at the phone-in-programme held here, people, whose problems have not been addressed in taluk and in town municipal councils, for the last three months are now approaching the deputy commissioner seeking redressal. Despite instructions from the deputy commissioner’s office to attend to the grievances of people on priority, the officials in taluk level and TMCs were not attending them and not filing ‘action taken’ report regularly. This kind of negligence would not be tolerated in the future. The ADC should take up such cases and recommend action against them, he added.

The complaints that were received in the programme were closure of fair price shop in T Narasipur, non-allocation of sites since 1992, encroachment of land at Bhugatahalli village in Bannur hobli, ferrying school children beyond permissible numbers, construction a house by closing the drain at Jayapura hobli, complaints pertaining to parking of sand laden trucks on the both sides of road from Alanahalli up to Netaji Circle, Sardar Vallabbhai Patel Nagar to the city, land encroachment near Vadgal Ranganatha Swamy temple, non-filling of pits after road works from Ballal Circle up to Kuvempunagar, hanging of photographs of deceased on trees and light polls, non-repair of road from T Narasipur Kabini bridge to High School Circle, substandard work of a Rs 1.2 crore complex being constructed on Link Road in T Narasipur and rampant illegal sand lifting in the surrounding of T Narasipur taluk.

Besides, tepid smell at 19th cross of Vidyaranyapuram following unscientific disposal of garbage at the Sewage Farm, land encroachment at Neelasoge, non-payment for the construction of a community hall and fresh encroachment of land at the behest of secretary of Srirampura gram panchayat.

The DC authorised Dr Betsurmutt to take action on officials who inordinately delay in addressing the people’s problems. Superintendent of Police Manish Karbekar, ADC Dr C J Betsurmutt, ZP CEO G Satyavathi and others attended the meeting.
