Appearing in no trouble whatsoever, Savio produced an all-round display in triumphing 6-3, 6-3. Things, however, were not that easy for VR Vasudev, who had slug it out past B Samyukth in the under-14 final that went the distance.

After taking the opening set 6-4, Vasudev’s game went wayward as Samyukth bounced to level the game at 1-1 after taking the second set 6-2. Vasudev then rallied back in the decider, sealing victory with a 6-3 show. Tanya Singh and Shikha N Singh also had to sweat it out in clinching the girls’ under-16 and under-14 titles respectively. While Tanya outlasted Anna C Nelson 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, Shikha battled past a gritty M Shivani 6-2, 4-6, 7-6.

Tanya took the first set 6-4 but Anna C Nelson fought back to square the match by winning the second set 6-3. In the decider, both players came up with good tennis but eventually Tanya broke her opponent to pocket the third game 7-5 and the match.
