Temple theft: One held, booty recovered

The police have recovered the booty worth thousands of rupees. Ravi aka Bele, native of Srirangapatna town, is the accused. He had stolen gold and silver ornaments from Kengal Mahadeshwaraswamy Temple of Kerethonnur, Rakshasamma temple in Madarahalli, Kunthibetta temple, Venkataramanaswamy temple near Karighatta, Kalabairaweshwara swamy temple in Kirangur, Kalikamba temple in Belagola, Venkataramanaswamy temple in P Hosahalli. Cases have been filed against him at Melukote Police Station, Srirangapatna Police Station, K R Sagara Police Station and Pandavapura Police Station. He was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.

Two persons die

An unidentified person died on the spot when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near Naguvanahalli gate in Srirangapatna taluk on Thursday.

He is around 50 years. The body has beek kept at the taluk general hospital mortuary for identification. Town Police have registered a case. In another incident, a 55-year-old man has died after consuming excess liquot at Srirampura village in the taluk. Murthy, a carpenter was a habitual drunkard. More details are awaited. Town Police have registered a case.
