Speaking with mediapersons at Jadee village near Sorab on Wednesday, Yeddyurappa said: “The decision has been conveyed to BJP National President Nithin Gadkari. I will act as per the advice of the party leadership.”

“The BJP must come back to power in the State with a thumping majority by winning at least 150 seats in the next Assembly election. With this mission, I will tour all the Assembly segments after the local body election. That will sure strengthen the party. As the State BJP has many leaders in its ranks who can succeed me, I will play an active role in the Central politics after the Assembly election,” he said.

‘UPA govt failed’

The UPA government under Manmohan Singh has failed on all fronts and election may be held for Lok Sabha any time. BJP will come back to power at the Centre, he said.

However, Yeddyurappa clarified that he is not after power and has not demanded any position at the national level. Yeddyurappa who earlier had served as General Secretary of BJP, expressed the wish to enter Rajya Sabha and said that he wanted to serve the party at the national level as an ordinary worker.

“Earlier also, BJP leadership had wished to utilise my services at the national level. However, it was my dream to bring BJP to power in Karnataka. As the dream is realised, I will bid farewell to State politics with a sense of fulfilment,” he added.

Refusing to name his successor, he said: “There are many competent persons in the State BJP. The party will take a decision in this regard.”

The meeting of State cabinet will be held on December 25 to finalise the date for State Legislative session. Governor will address the joint session. He asked the Congress and JD(S) leaders to get ready for a debate in the House on the scams.
