“Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, who has nurtured evil ambitions, is under the impression that in State politics, opportunities for indulging in irregularities are limited. He is planning to add to the wealth amassed through unfair means, by joining national politics,” he told media persons in the City on Thursday.

Kumaraswamy said that he will begin his second phase of the campaign against Yeddyurappa after the local body elections, by further exposing the irregularities in which the latter and his family members were involved.

Debate on scams

Referring to Yeddyurappa’s statement, calling upon the Opposition leaders to be ready for a debate in the Legislative session on scams, he said, “I had challenged Yeddyurappa for a debate in Shikaripur, which he is avoiding.” He charged the Chief Minister with practising politics of escapism.

He criticised BJP leaders for being discourteous to the Governor. “As the Governor has all the documents on the irregularities indulged in by the members of the Cabinet, he has sought explanation from the Chief Minister. The Governor can’t be a mute spectator to the irregularities,” Kumaraswamy stated.

The former chief minister denied allegations by the BJP leaders that Congress had conspired to topple the State Government through the Governor. “Had Sonia Gandhi made up her mind, Yeddyurappa would have been dislodged from power long ago,” he remarked.
