Kala Vaibhava for art needs

The expo cum sale is organised as part of the yearly Kala Vaibhava expo conducted by the local chapters of the District Industries Centre(DIC).

The expo brings handicrafts and artefacts produced by the industries and self employed skilled artisans and various other organisations, to be appreciated by art connoisseurs in the town.

Of the numerous items that will be put on display and also for sale, include handloom dresses, filigrees of various kinds of metal and gold, ready-made dress materials, pottery items, leather and wood toys and dolls, household articles, designer handbags, artificial jewellery along with ayurvedic and herbal medicines, rosaries made of Rudraksha and other beads, ornaments worn by tribals, silk sarees, bronze statues, bed-sheets and covers, Chennapatna dolls, pitchers made of mud, flower pots and various other decorative items.
The prices of these product also come in affordable rates as the exhibition is organised with the sole aim of providing a forum for artisans and industries for direct selling.

The organisers also intends to encourage local self help groups, Khadi Gramodyoga, local small scale industries (SSIs) and cottage industries to give them marketing outlets.  

Cultural programmes

The expo will have cultural programmes, folk dance by noted artistes in the evenings.  Cultural troupes from various districts of Karnataka have been invited to participate in talent competitions related to Folk which will be held on Dec.31 between 4pm to 7pm. The expo will be open till Jan 2, 2011. Entry for the expo is free.
