<p>With a mission to bring a difference in the lives of the specially-abled and handicapped people, Eshwar has set the eyes on power. He is contesting as an independent from the Hinkal constituency. </p>.<p>Speaking at a press meet on Saturday, he said that there were more than 500 specially-abled individuals and their families living in the constituency out of the 3000 electorate. <br /><br />There was several appeals made to the district administration to reserve the seat for the handicapped. But, the authorities failed to fix the quota for specially-abled. Hence, it was inevitable to contest for the general seat of the constituency, he said. </p>.<p>Eshwar said he wished to fight for the cause of specially-abled people. There are 1.5 lakh handicapped people in State.<br /><br />To take up cudgels <br />“Though, there are several schemes like pension scheme and other programmes for this section of the people, the benefits have reached only small number of people. I am happy that there is extraordinary support from specially-abled people,” he added. <br /><br />He said he would like to work and fight for the genuine rights of the handicapped and specially-abled people in his constituency in particular and such community in general across the district and State. <br /><br />The welfare of disabled was possible only through united fight, he said. Mahadevaiah, president of the Federation of Karnataka State Physically Challenged Associations, secretary Mantelingaiah and others were present. <br /></p>
