'I want to stand out'

Last Updated 12 July 2017, 21:37 IST

Smart and committed, actor Ragini Dwivedi is always trying out new things. Be it movie roles or personal goals, Ragini undertakes everything with a fresh perspective. The Sandalwood artiste, who is presently shuttling between movie sets and award shows, tells Tini Sara Anien about how she balances it all.

How busy are you?

Busy enough! I have three ongoing projects and have signed three more. I’m busy shooting for ‘Kicchu’ and ‘Gandhigiri’. The shoot for the film with actor Aditya will kick off soon. ‘Nanne Next CM’ will release in August. There’s a lot happening and I couldn’t have asked for more.

After solo films like ‘Ragini IPS’ and ‘Ranachandi’, what are you concentrating on now?

This year, I will focus on delivering a good mix of movies which will include solo and commercial films. I will be seen in a variety of characters soon. My fans were a bit disappointed that I haven’t been doing romantic roles of late, so I am trying such roles too.

You are seen hosting and performing at many events now..

I want to stand out. Since I am fitter now, I want to try different things and be out-of-the-box. I always thought I was a good speaker and I’ve discovered many things about myself at these events.

Are you also trying to redefine yourself as a fashion icon?

I have tried to change the way I look. I have been wearing everything, from top-notch labels to newer ones, now. But I usually turn to my brother Rudraksh’s designs for most of my fashion needs. I feel power dressing is very important for women.

You’ve been featured in some interesting song sequences recently..
The item song in ‘Tiger’, which was shot in a comical way, was a very different experience. The contemporary ‘naagin’ song in ‘Uppu Hulli Khara’, which shows me doing acrobatics, was a challenging project.

We hear travel is your favourite pastime. How are you finding time for it?

It’s really hectic now. However, I have been to many places in North Karnataka and the Om Beach recently, which has kept me excited about travelling and exploring more.

Things you’ve just discovered about yourself...

Knowing that I can stand wearing heels for more than eight hours was a big revelation (laughs). I discovered my witty side while hosting events.

How do you like to relax?

I love hanging out with family and friends when I’m off work. I don’t take calls after 9 pm and just concentrate on my ‘me time’ which is a must for everyone.
