Owing to recent rain, water logged drain has been converted into a lake filled with filth and emanating stench. Residents express apprehensions over the outbreak of diseases and the drain has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Sewage from Kottapalli village in Ghantavaripalli Gram Panchayat limits is let into the drainage in 7th ward.

The residents of the ward allege negligence on the part of the Town Municipal Council in taking up measures to clean up the clogged drains.

Pits have been dug in the middle of all roads in the city to facilitate free flow of sewage. The pipes to supply drinking water are also laid adjoining to the sewage pipes. Some time the drinking water gets contaminated when it gets mixed up with sewage.

The overflow of sewage on the roads is posing difficulties to the road users. The unbearable stench emanating from the drainage is forcing the road users to hold their nose while using the stretch. A school is also located close by the drainage pit. Students find it difficult to concentrate on studies due to the disgusting odour.
