Udupi cops solve 2 murder cases

Speaking with mediapersons here on Wednesday, SP Pravin Pawar said that following the complaint lodged by one Sridhar Bijooru from Vidyanagar of Byndoor, who found blood stains and marks of human toes protruding from the ground outside his house where his three workers were residing, the police started searching for the workers. 

The police arrested Mithun Gurudas (20) and Binoy (22) of West Bengal for murdering Subul Barohi who was working with them. Both of them have confessed their crime and stated that the deceased used to take their wages and used to drink and abuse them, he added.

Heroor murder
The SP said that the police have also solved the Heroor murder case by arresting a person. Sunanda Shetty (62) was found murdered in front of her house on December 21. The ornaments worn by her were taken away by the culprits and one white cap that is generally used by the people of a particular community was found lying near the dead body, which helped the police to nab the culprit.

The arrested has been identified as Yogish Kumar Poojary (27), who in turn had confessed that he had murdered Shetty for monetary gain and to make up the loss in business. He was residing a few yards away from the house of the deceased and running a small general store near Heroor bus stand.

He had planned to attack Sunanda Shetty on several occasions but could not succeed. Finally, on the fateful day around 7 pm, Yogish went near the house of Sunanda Shetty and kept a watch on her movements in the dark and as she came out to clean the portico, Yogish pounced on her from the back and killed her.

After committing the murder, he watched movie and returned home late and tied the packet containing the gold ornament to a tree branch, he said.
The team also recovered gold ornaments which consists one gold Mangalasutra, two ear studs and four bangles worth Rs 1,80,000.
