The party today filed a notice before the Legislative Council Secretary V Shreesh on the proposed motion, BJP sources said.
Puttanna was among the JDS leaders who allegedly played a key role in fuelling the rebellion by a section of BJP legislators and independents who aggressively pushed for the removal of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa earlier this year but without success.
In the 75-member Upper House, BJP has a strength of 40, while Congress and JDS has 18 and 14,respectively. There are two Independents in addition to the Chairman.
