HASC suffer second successive defeat

Striker Malsawmfela (33rd minute) and Bikramjit Singh (53rd) scored for AIFF XI while RC Prakash reduced the margin for HASC through a penalty kick in the 88th minute.

AIFF XI could have won by a bigger margin had not captain Jeje Lalpekhlua missed a spot kick.

HASC and AIFF XI now have seven points each from six matches.  It was Bangalore team’s second loss in as many matches. Malsawmfela did not miss the scoring chance as his glancing header off a Tirthankar Sarkar cross from the right beat the goalkeeper and found the net after hitting the inside of the post.

AIFF doubled the lead early in the second half through Bikramjit Singh , who’s corner kick from the left flank curled into the net.

In the 88th minute Prakash scored for HASC, converting a a spot kick after AIFF’s Jagtar Singh handled the ball inside the area.

At Kolkata, Mohun Bagan scored a 2-0 win over Mumbai FC in a round six I-League match at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan. Subair Muritala Ali (45+1st) and Ashim Biswas (79th) struck in each half to help Mohun Bagan pick their second consecutive win.

Other results: ONGC: 1 (ND Opara 20th) drew with  Churchill Brothers: 1 ( Odafa Onyeka Okolie (45+2); Dempo: 1 (Clifton Gonsalves 45th) drew with  Chirag United: 1 (Josimar da Silva Martins 89th).
