Though it may read like a flim script, the above lines do has a filmy connection. It’s a real life incident that was disclosed by ‘Goldenstar’ Ganesh on Thursday here. And, the man who was caught for not possessing licence was none other than the actor himself.

Road Safety Week
Participating in the launch of Road Safety Week organised by the city police at J K Grounds here, Ganesh advised the road users not to ignore traffic rules. “Be it in  any part of the world, don’t forget to abide by the law, especially wearing helmets”, Ganesh said.

Ganesh who welcomed the gathering in his usual style uttering his favourite line ‘Namaskara, namaskara...’ (from his one time hit ‘Comedy Time’ that was aired on a private Kannada channel) said ‘road safety rules have been made for the benefit of the vehicle users and they have to follow it without a miss’. In what could make the job of the police easy, Ganesh said he was happy to done the role of ambassador in spreading the awareness messages of the department, if the authorities concerned are interested.
In his address Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta said the cops could make use of the opportunity, by forwarding a proposal in this regard (roping in Ganesh to endorse messages). It would be better, instead of preaching do’s and don’ts.

The role of both the district administration and public is important in spreading the awareness, the deputy commissioner added.

Tragic deaths
Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal said on an average 140 people are losing lives annually in various mishaps.

He attributed it to the laxity on the part of the people too, who prefer to blame the police, RTO and other departments whenever mishaps occur.Students from different schools participated in the programme, holding placards of different traffic signs.
DCPs Basavaraj Malagathi (Law and order) and P Rajendra Prasad (Crime and traffic), actress Nayana were present. on the occasion.
