On being threatened with exposure, the MLA lodged a report with the police alleging that she had stolen some money and a cell phone from his house. <br /><br />The girl was later arrested by the police on theft charges.<br /><br />The legislator was suspended by Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati after the allegations. <br /><br />The brother of the girl alleged that the Samajwadi Party had tried to exert pressure on the girl to withdraw her case against the MLA.<br /></p>
