One killed in accident

A 52-year-old man was killed and his wife was seriously injured when their car rammed into a stationary vehicle at Rohini in outer Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Hazara Singh, a resident of Rohini Sector 15. He and his wife Nirmala Kaur, 45, were returning home after a medical taking a check-up when they met with the accident at around 9 am, police added.Their Hyundai Santro car first hit an autorickshaw that was parked on the side of the road and then rammed into the RTV, a police official said. “The RTV was parked on the side. The impact was so severe that the front part of the car was reduced to heap of metal,” the official added.

Hazara and Nirmala were rushed to Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital where Hazara was declared brought dead. Nirmala is in critical condition. “Eyewitnesses say Hazara was speeding. However, we have registered a case at Prashant Vihar Police Station and investigating the matter,” the official said.   Hazara is survived by his wife and four daughters.

A student hit
In a separate incident, a Class IV student of Kalka Public School was injured when she was hit by a speeding truck in front of the school in south east Delhi.

The accident took place when Muskan Gupta, a resident of Tughlakabad, was standing in front of the school at around 2 pm. “Muskan was rushed to Batra Hospital by the school authorities. The girl is in shock, as there are multiple fractures on her leg,” a police official said.
