Conditional bail granted to Sowmya Bhat

Sowmya Bhat of Kukkeri in Belthangady taluk and her boyfriend Venkataramana Babu (30) of Agadur had allegedly murdered Govinda Bhat (30) of Halatti village in Sullia taluk on April 30, 2010 at Agadur village in Whitefield.

The two are alleged to have beaten up Bhat on April 30 and later admitted him to a hospital where he died the same day. They informed the hospital that he slipped and fell in the bathroom. The Whitefield Police, who registered a suo motu complaint, had arrested the two, six months after the incident. Sowmya returned to Kukkeri and continued her Diploma in Fashion Designing course.
