But Malayalam actress Navya Nair too had her share of admirers. Navya was eager to know how Boss was doing and she seemed to have pulled off another hit here in the Kannada film industry. But Navya has decided not to take up any offers until her two- month-old-daughter is old enough. So does she miss the movies? “Oh no I am thoroughly enjoying my new role as a mother. My child keeps me occupied and I don’t think I would want to think of movies until she’s a little older,” Navya said.

Navya strayed into acting when she was barely 16. She hit the silver screen with Istam in Malayalam and has given the Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada industry many memorable films including Bhagyadha Balegaara with Shivrajkumar where she played a Brahmin lady. She won the Kerala State Award for her brilliant role as Balamani in Nandanam. “I always take things as they come. I don’t want to pose any challenges to myself and plan anything that will complicate my present,” says Navya.

Marriage and motherhood haven’t changed anything for Navya. She’s not known as the glamour girl of the film industry and Navya has always managed to live up to that tag and still succeed. “You don’t have to expose your body to become popular. You can be a sensuous actress without showing off too much. There’s a lot of difference between sexuality and sensuality,” explains Navya. She feels one can be sensuous with one’s smile and body language.

Navya plans to pen a book soon. About the budding writer in her, she says, “I write just about anything that interests me. It could be random thoughts or some character who has influenced me a lot. I write about characters who are in contrast to myself.”

She says she cherishes vivid memories of her childhood. “I draw a lot of strength from my childhood. All those negative emotions I went through as a child seem to translate into positive energy today,” says Navya, who is like any other ordinary girl when she gets home. “Stardom never gets to me. I leave acting behind when I come home. I don’t wear that starry image on my sleeve,” she wraps up.
