953 HIV infected in Dist: DHO

Participating in an interaction organised by Centre for Advocacy and Research (C-FAR)  Organisation here on Monday, he said this disease is spreading rapidly across the State. As many as  17 ICDC centres have been opened in the district. In the State, according to a report, there are around five lakh HIV infected.

A total of  2,280 persons of the district registered their names for the Anti Retroviral Treatment (ART).The media plays an important role in creating awareness among the public he added.  Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Representative of C-FAR Sumitha explained the aims of the organisation in putting an end to this dreaded disease. She sought the co-operation of general public.  Journalist Sripadu, District AIDS Control Officer Dr Nagaraju, Dr Madhusudan and others were present.
