<p> Englishman Eric Harrison, a consultant to FIFA on football turf, visited the stadium on Tuesday and gave the foundation work the thumbs-up, thus paving the way for Greenfields to lay the artificial turf.<br /><br />“Harrison was impressed with the foundation work,” said Karnataka State Football Association president AR Khaleel. “Now, only the turf-laying process is pending. Work on should start by February 17, and end in four weeks’ time.”<br /><br />The artificial turf consignment is expected to reach Chennai on February 10. With custom officials expected to take a week for inspection, the turf should reach the City by February 17. The turf laying will take about three-four weeks, and following another inspection from Harrison in the fourth week of March, the stadium should be primed to host its first match.<br /><br />Owing to the delay -- the stadium was expected to be ready by December 31 last year -- local club HASC were forced play their initial I-League matches away. Their first two home ties were played last month at the Sree Kanteerava stadium. </p>
