BJP puts heat on PM to react

Last Updated 15 February 2011, 18:55 IST

If veteran BJP leader L K Advani mounted a vitriolic attack on the prime minister at a rally here at the Sahid Minar, blaming his “innate weakness” as the main cause behind a slew of scams popping up before the Congress-led UPA government, party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman maintained that the BJP “certainly expects him to talk on the three issues (2G, S-band and black money).

Going a step further, Opposition Leader in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley sought a clarification on the alleged tapping of over one lakh telephones across the country, describing it as a “cause of grave concern”.

As the saffron brigade concluded its “Navjagran Yatra” with the rally and a brain-storming session that was attended by top leaders across the country, the BJP leadership decided to step up the heat on Singh.

The first to train the salvo at the prime minister was Advani who, besides demanding a JPC each for the alleged scams involving the Commonwealth Games and Adarsh Housing Society, attacked Singh as being the “weakest prime minister” he had ever seen in India.
“I have not seen so weak a prime minister in the country ever. It is only but natural that a weak PM can hardly initiate action against corruption and black money,” he said
