In a shocking incident, three masked men waylaid employees of a private finance company, assaulted and robbed them of Rs. 3.3 lakh cash and sped away in a motorbike, near Upparadoddi in the taluk, on Wednesday.
The victims have been identified as T S Shivakumar, manager and Mallikarjun, regional officer working at S K Micro Finance Company. They were given the first aid at Maddur hospital and later shifted to Mandya hospital for further treatment.
It is said that Shivakumar and Mallikarjun were carrying ` 3.30 lakh in the bag to disburse loans among the members of Stree Shakti Sanghas.
They collected ` 10,750 from a beneficiary and proceeding toards gurudevarahalli via Upparadoddi. While they were going on a mud road, two men who had covered their faces with the mask pounced on them and assaulted the two with iron rod. Later, they snatched the bag and escaped on a two-wheeler.
On hearing the screams of the injured, the villagers came to the spot and shifted them to Maddur hospital. Maddur police have registered a case and are investigating.
