'Furnish details on power connection to borewells'

 Presiding over the KDP meeting, he expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of the assistant executive engineers in addressing the drinking water problem in the district.
He sought details from the executive engineer of the Engineering Department, regarding measures taken to check the problem of ground water depletion.

‘ Nearly 551 borewells have been dug in the district, and motors have been installed for 447 borewells. Now, borewells are required for the villages though they are not mentioned in the action plan. Hence, changes were made to provide borewells in these villages,’ said Devraj, Executive Engineer of the Engineering Department.

Details sought

The deputy secretary said that Bescom has failed to provide details on the power connection to the borewells even though the details were asked  three months back.
Responding to this Bescom Executive Engineer said that priority is being given to drinking water issue, and the department has a stock of 25 kv transformers.

The executive officers of the taluks were directed to obtain information from the grama panchayat secretaries on the power supply to the borewells.

Industries Department Deputy Director Rangaswamy said, 21 DPAP sheds were distributed from the department.

The department has yet to receive nearly Rs 15 lakh of rent due since 1980-81, and till the date, only Rs 80,000 has been collected. New hostels buildings which are yet to be handed over to the Social Welfare Department,  was also discussed.

Reports not submitted

Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director, Bhaskar was taken to task for failing to submit report from past six months, on the conditions of anganwadi kendras.

Agri department

Furnishing details on the works of the Agriculture Department, officials said, Rs 20.43 lakh has been released under Atma Yojane in co-ordination with sericulture, horticulture, animal husbandry and watershed departments. Out of this Rs 16.76 has been utilised. For the current year Rs 56.73 has been granted.

In the wake of rise in chikungunya cases, ZP president directed the district health official Dr Ramesh Babu, to maintain cleanliness and stop treating the patients at their houses. Direction have been issued to utilise the NREGA grant for the maintenance of cleanliness. Rangarao directed the taluk executive officers to take measures to eradicate mosquitoes.

The Agriculture Department officials were directed to furnish details on the availability of seeds, fertilisers and rain conditions in the district so that alternative measures can be taken in case of rain failure.   BCM, sericulture, watershed, horticulture, forest departments works were reviewed.

Zilla Panchayat  Vice-President Nameeda Khanam, Social Justice Standing Committee President Balaji Chanaiaih, Agriculture and Industry Standing Committee President Muniraju and district-level officers were present.
