NTPC to invest Rs 15,966 cr

The country’s largest power producer, NTPC, would invest Rs 15,968 crore for commissioning two power projects in Maharashtra by 2015.

NTPC is executing a 1,000 MW thermal power project at Mouda and 1,320 MW plant at Sholapur in Maharashtra at an investment of Rs 5,460 crore and Rs 10,508 crore respectively.

“The work at the Mouda power project was initiated in November last year and is expected to be commissioned during 2011-12,” Minister of State for Power Bharatsingh Solanki said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

The work on the Sholapur plant has been initiated after land and water commitment from the state government, he said, adding that the project is scheduled to be commissioned during  2014-15.
