"The alleged training camps of US-based V Rudrakumaran, Norway-based Nediyavan and Vinayagam are denied and there is no evidence suggesting that they have established a base in Tamil Nadu to create civil war in Sri Lanka and kill Indian leaders," DGP Letika Saran said.

The police chief's statement came in the wake of reports, quoting Sri Lankan Prime Minister D M Jayaratne's statement in Parliament on March 9 about the presence of three LTTE secret training centres in Tamil Nadu.

Saran said the Intelligence wing of the state police was fully geared up and constantly monitoring such information."The state police including the Coastal Security Group are keeping a vigil in coastal areas of Tamil Nadu," she said.

She also "categorically" denied reports that Pulendra Master of the proscribed organisation was running such secret LTTE camps in Tamil Nadu.

Further, the Mahabodhi society, a Buddhist centre at Chennai, was attacked by sympathisers of Sri Lankan Tamils and not the LTTE, she said."LTTE had no role in this affair and their very presence is denied."

According to the reported statement of Jayaratne, LTTE camps were being run in Tamil Nadu along its border with Kerala and that the organisation, defeated in 2009, was behind the attack on the Mahabodhi society that left four persons, including a monk, injured.
The reports had also quoted him as saying that the camps were training recruits with a view to creating civil war in Sri Lankan and kill Indian leaders.
