Solve drinking water crisis on priority: CEO Sundarnayak

Speaking at the Karnataka development programme meeting in Chamarajanagar on Friday, he said they should prepare list of villages which are reeling under severe drinking water crisis and submit the same to him within a week.

Permanent measures would be taken after going through the report. The Government had released money to Panchayat Raj institutions to solve drinking water problem. At any cost, the money released for drinking water should not be diverted for other works, he added.

Over money being released by Gram Panchayat secretary to beneficiaries without construction of toilets under the ‘Sampoorna Swacchata Andolan in Santhemarahalli Gram Panchayat, B P Puttabuddhi urged the CEO to probe the matter.

Sundaranayak said TP officials and nodal officers are yet to submit the progress report in their respective jurisdiction.

Zilla Panchayat President K Rajeshwari, Vice -President M Siddaraju, Deputy Secretary Venugopal and others were present.

Unauthorised bore wells  

Executive Engineer of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) Umesh said over 15,000 bore wells have been sunk by violating the norms.

At the KDP meeting here on Friday, he said the CESE was finding it difficult to energise them as they were illegal.

The executive engineer of ZP Engineering division, Raju said decline in underground water level has hit the supply of drinking water in villages.
