Superintendent of Railway Police, Howrah, Rabindranath Mukhopadhyay said altogether 50 gelatin sticks, 10 detonators, 15 kg other explosives and five pistols were seized from a coach of the train and three persons were arrested.
Mukhopadhyay said the police had received a tip off and the three were under watch.
The train originated from Jamalpur in Bihar's Munger district, known for its illegal arms manufacturing units.
