In Indonesia, East Bengal suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of Persipura Jayapura in a Group H match at the Bung Karno Stadium on Wednesday.

Persipura opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Titus John Londouw Bonai and extended the lead courtesy Boas Theofilus Erwin Salossa three minutes later.

Tolgay Ozbey pulled one back for East Bengal in the 22nd but second half goals from Stevie Bonsapia in the 63rd and substitute Lukas Mandowen in the 90th gave Persipura a comprehensive victory.

Dempo, who had begun their AFC Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over Al Tilal of Yemen at home, were outplayed by their rivals at Sports City Stadium in Beirut on Tuesday.
Edson Luis Nascimento (32nd) and Ali Nassereddine (63rd) scored for Al Ansar against a surprisingly subdued and defensive Dempo.

Al Nasar drew first blood in the 32nd minute with Mohamad Atwi’s cross from the left and was connected by Edson into the Dempo goal. Once Al Ansar had their noses in front, there was no looking back.

Nassereddine dodged past at least three Dempo defenders before firing the ball at the top corner of the net in the 63rd minute. Dempo’s best chance came early in the first half when Clifford Miranda’s free-kick hit the post. Martins and Brazilian Roberto Mendis Silva unleashed a couple of long-range shots, which Al Ansar goalkeeper Hassan Moghnieh managed to tip over.

Substitute Joaquim Abran-ches also made a couple of runs late in the match but lacked clinical finish.
