Hassan spruced up for Kannada sammelan

The city is decked up for the 12th two-day district Kannada Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Sahitya Parishat Bhavan and Kala Bhavan from Saturday.

The convention will be inaugurated in front of the Sahitya Bhavan in the morning. Before this, a cultural procession will pass through main roads of the city accompanied by 28 cultural troupes and police band. Besides, NCC cadets and B.Ed college students, women carrying 101 kalasa would be adding colour to the procession.

The authorities have put up 55 stalls following last minute demand. There will be painting exhibition in the same premises, said Udayaravi, president of District unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat. Both the venues are gorgeously decorated. Programmes will be simultaneously held in both the venues.

The City Municipal Council, district administration and police department have extended their full cooperation for the event. Food will be served to only those who have registered their names by paying  `  50.
