He was speaking after opening new school complex instituted by Adhyana Vidya Trust at Ragibommanahalli on outskirts of Malavalli in Mandya district on Sunday. The ruling government in the State must be development-oriented without giving importance to the party affiliation. But the BJP Government in state is neglecting to implement people-friendly programmes. Each beneficiary would get ` 30,000 annually for persons who have enrolled under Rashtriya Swastha Bhima Yojana, he added.

Commenting on the distribution of saree to Bhagaylakshmi beneficiaries, bicycles to girls, he said such a measure may increase the popularity of any government, but not provide permanent solution to their problems. The Government must implement schemes to improve the economic activities of women.

The union minister criticised the State Government announcement on distribution of funds to Mutts and other religious institutions. The government must utilise the funds for construction of roads, bridges and to improve other basic facilities, he added.  
      
Promising to release adequate funds from labour ministry, he wanted state government to utilise this opportunity for welfare of people in the State.

Hospitals

Kharge said that Union Government had sanctioned three hospitals and two dispensary units for the State during this fiscal to provide quality health services to beedi workers.

The hospitals will be established in Mandya and Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district to benefit the beedi workers of the region. The finance department has given approval for this, he added.

On the demand for establishment ESI hospital in Malavalli Town, the union minister rejected the proposal. Kharge assured to implement health and other people-friendly programmes through the Trust for people of the town.  In his key note address, Adhyana Vidya Trust President Dr Murthy urged the State Government to sanction ten acres of land for Malavalli town to promote sports activities.

 Honorary President of the Trust Kagodu Thimmappa, former union minister M V Rajashekharan, former minister M S Atmananda and others were present.
