After exemplary performances in comedy movies like Golmaal 2 and Golmaal 3, chocolate boy Tusshar Kapoor is back this time with a new movie.

He was in the City recently for the promotion of his movie, ‘Shor in the City’ which is the latest offering from Balaji Productions.

The movie is based in Mumbai and narrates the interrelated stories of three youngsters in the big city. But this isn’t the run-of-the-mill kind.

About the movie, he says, “There are a lot of films made about Mumbai but they all portray it as the underground mafia capital. This film has a totally different take on the city. It is serious yet funny. It is commercial, yet very new wave. This is an emerging genre. So every character is quite a challenge,” he adds.

In the movie, he plays a bootlegger who is involved in petty crimes. So how difficult was this character to play? He says, “All the characters were very challenging as it was not the kind where you could leave your brain behind and just act. I play the character Tilak and I had to understand what Tilak is all about. He is neither the out-an-out negative gangster nor is he the good boy. He has grey shades to his character. He is mature in his behaviour at the same time he is a criminal.”

But he is quick to add that he didn’t have a lot of time to prepare for this role as he was busy with other assignments.

“I was shooting for some other film in Goa. Then out of the blue, I had to travel overnight to Mumbai and start the shoot. I read the script a couple of times in Goa and I just started shooting for the film,” he says.

This down-to-earth actor expressed a lot of appreciation for his co-star Radhika Apte who plays his wife in the film.  He adds, “Though she is very serious about her work and very involved into her character, she is a jovial person too. Moreover, she is a party freak. I had a great time with her on the sets as she kept the atmosphere very lively.” This is the cricket season and not many films are being made. But Tusshar has quite a few movies lined up.

He says, “I have ‘Love you Mr Kalakaar’, which is a romantic movie, with Amrita Rao. It will be released in May and then there’s Sagar Ballary’s Hum Tum Aur Shabana.  And in April, we will start shooting for Milan Luthria’s ‘Dirty Picture’.”

The actor feels at home in the City which he loves immensely.  Bangalore happens to be the first stop in his promotional tour. He says he has very pleasant memories of Bangalore.  “I was here three years back for Kya Kool Hain Hum and to watch ‘C KKompany’. Neha, Ritesh and I had a great time here. So I hope it works out this time too.”

And speaking about Bangaloreans, he is totally in awe of the City. “I would love to make a movie about Bangalore. The City has a very different vibe to it and it is filled with many intelligent youngsters.” He also met a group of college students from Garden City College, where he was the guest of honour at the college fest.  Apart from work, this actor loves sports and has a rigorous fitness regime too.  “I am not a big fan of cricket. I love playing squash and sometimes badminton and table tennis. I am a complete fitness freak. Five days a week, I do weights and two days I do cardio.”
