Good response to organic farming in DK

Rs 24 lakh has been allocated to each taluk in the district

Speaking to Deccan Herald, an official from agriculture department informed that Rs 24 lakh has been allocated to each taluk in the district.

The amount has been deposited into the joint account opened in the name of Joint Director of Agriculture and the NGO concerned of the taluk, he said and added that Lok Sabha polls was the major impediment in execution of the programme.

Taluk-level officers are given instructions to chalk out plans and send the proposals.

“We have already identified 300 farmers in the district. The NGO has been asked to identify the beneficiaries for the next year as well.”  Government will support with Rs 10,000 per beneficiary for the bio-digester. Each taluk has the provision for 30 beneficiaries. For vermi compost, each beneficiary will receive a sum of Rs 2,000 and Rs 6,000 will be given by the government to each beneficiary who opts for farm ponds.

Every taluk will get a sum of Rs 25,500 for the purchase of seeds of green manure, Rs 15,000 for the purchase of seeds for 60 acres of land in the taluk, Rs 2,400 for the preparation of ‘jeevamritha’ in 60 drums per taluk. Every Taluk has the provision for 30 farm pits under this programme. A sum of Rs 1,000 will given for percolation pits for each beneficiary and 180 pits can be dug in each taluk.  A person will receive Rs 1,000 as subsidy for the soil treatment besides lime required for the treatment by the agriculture department. There are as many as 30 proposals earmarked for each taluk under this provision.

Every taluk has the provision for 60 bee hives. Every beneficiary will get Rs 1,000 per bee hive. As many as 60 gobar gas unit can be set up in each taluk. Beneficiary will get a sum of Rs 10,000 each. There is a provision for recharging of 60 open well/borewell in each taluk and the beneficiary will get a sum of Rs 2,500.  Each beneficiary will get 50 per cent subsidy for the purchase of cart pump. Under the mission every taluk has the provision for setting up 30 barn to store grains. Each beneficiary will get a sum of Rs 2,000 per barn. 

The implementing agency will be given a sum of Rs 38,000 for the administrative expenditure.
