The gram panchayat finds it difficult to supply water daily during the summer. During monsoon, the water is supplied through gravitational force to Kalasa town. A 60 hp pump has been installed at Hebbale to supply water from Bhadra river during monsoon.

As Bhadra water is rich in minerals, it is good for drinking. However, in the past the pump was getting spoilt very often and the authorities were finding it difficult to repair. At the same time, poor quality of electricity is also affecting the water supply in the town. The gram panchayat also supplies water through tankers.

Though there is a rule in the Gram Panchayat that water should not be supplied in more than half inch pipe, few consumers have used more than half inch pipe, which is affecting the water supply. At the same time, the gram panchayat has not made any strict rule to disconnect the water supply to those consumers who had failed to pay the bills for years.

The amibitious Honnekadu drinking water project is nearing completion and the tender has been invited for the second phase. It is said that if the Honnekadu drinking water project is completed, then the water woes will be solved.
