Rajiv (28), a resident of village Atora, lost consciousness after his motorbike hit a truck on his way from Mansuri to Sahibabad on Wednesday.
Considering him dead, the police sent Rajiv for post-mortem when he should have been sent to a hospital and also pocketed Rs 10,000 from him, allege the relatives of the victim.
The victim's uncle complained against the inspector who was on duty at the time of the incident yesterday.
Police say a thorough probe will be done and action taken against those found guilty.
