'Harassed' lady scholar gives list of witnesses

Prof Shivabasavaiah, suspended Dean of Department of Zoology, University of Mysore and the former guide of the lady, in his affidavit on March 29 had contended that the lady was not eligible for research as she lacked required nine years teaching experience among several other queries.

The lady in her reply expressed shock over her former guide’s assertions, as it was the latter who brought to her notice about the course. She is believed to have submitted a list of six witnesses to the committee.

The professor in question who also deposed before the panel appealed to the body to give permission to hire a lawyer, which was outrightly rejected.

However, his plea for certified copies of the affidavit submitted by his former student was honoured. Meanwhile, he didn’t submit any affidavit, citing the reasons that he couldn’t go through the queries submitted by the researcher.

The next date of inquiry is scheduled for April 5.
